Ernst Jacob Bakker

Managing Director

Having 25+ year of experience in managing intellectual property rights worldwide (music publishing, neighbouring rights and film/TV rights) Ernst thrives in translating strategy into concrete actions. Big picture thinking can be great and inspiring but at the end of the day what you create should be fit-for-purpose. On the way Ernst connects people and disciplines, always trying to find the balance between creativity and order, flexibiliteit and control that suits our clients best.

Ernst joined the Netherlands based global rights management company Fintage House in 2000 after having worked for a decade at the Dutch authors’ rights society Buma/Stemra in various capacities.

As Fintage’s EVP for music publishing and neighbouring rights Ernst has been instrumental in growing Fintage’s collection activities into a leading rights administration platform collecting the rights of Lionsgate Music, Eight Mile Style (Eminem), Munchkin Music (Frank Zappa), Jason Mraz, Jay-Z, Rihanna amongst many others.

In 2013 Ernst shaped and led the operational merger of the Damian Pulle's Rights Agency Ltd. (acquired in 2012) into Fintage’s neigbouring rights businesses. Following the sale of Fintages’s music business to Kobalt Music Group in 2016, Ernst was involved in folding Fintage’s operations into Kobalt.

Ernst is a long-standing member of the Committee of Rightholders supervising the Dutch audiovisual rights collection society Videma.

In 2016 Ernst established his IP management consultancy company Zanoise. Projects done by Zanoise include operational due diligence performed on a major independent in the music industry, the valuation of music catalogues, the design and implementation of a neighbouring rights collection infrastructure et cetera.
